The Stonehenge Neighborhood
Nestled between the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Roanoke Valley is a neighborhood unique unto itself. Stonehenge is a community that offers scenic mountain views, picturesque landscaping, modern design, and close proximity to the city. Our Southwest Roanoke County neighborhood accommodates 175 lovely homes, a private pool and tennis courts, and a natural, arboreal setting that inspires relaxation and a carefree lifestyle.
The Stonehenge community is served by an active Board of Directors, meeting monthly, dedicated to the needs of the residents.
History of Stonehenge
The Stonehenge community began in 1976. The large sculpture at the front entrance to the neighborhood was designed in 1976 by local artist George Solonevich, originally from the Soviet Union. Mr. Solonevich grew up in Russia, lived in a concentration camp in Germany during World War II, and eventually settled with his wife in the Roanoke Valley. He became well known for his realistic and moving works of art.
